Citrecycle focuses on provision of safe, clean and sustainable lead-acid battery recycling systems for the most marginalised communities in emerging economies. Lead recycling in developed regions is nearing 99%, but batteries leached into informal markets causes disastrous environmental, health and economic issues. By focusing on these unique markets, our vision is to be a disruptive, sector game changer.

Our approach is founded on the understanding of the communities in which we seek to engage. It is this unique perspective that acts as the bridge between new clean technology and people that lack the resources necessary to exploit and benefit from it.

Citrecycle was founded based on exploration of how new clean technologies developed at the University of Cambridge can be used for good, as well as for profit. By looking at different people first, we were able to address a global problem whilst unlocking a new market.

The most lucrative use of the Citrecycle technology is in emerging economics where there is the most need for change. A market driven approach therefore has the potential to have far reaching sustainable impacts and development, founded on the UN lead Sustainable Development Goals.

A perfect mix of young, unhibited creativity and experienced, wise business and industry professionals.
